Summer Camp Registrations

SUMMER CAMP IS THE HIGH POINT OF THE YEAR. TROOP 8 WILL BE AT CAMP SOMERS JULY 20-26.

Troop 8 has reserved the two campsites we traditionally use at Summer camp for the week starting July 20. All scouts should plan to attend.

Please hand in completed application forms and checks (made out to Troop 8) to Mr. Tomaro. The fee is $424. Scouts who just joined Troop 8 (after February 1) qualify for the early bird rate until next Monday, May 19th. Please read the Summer Camp Planner for more detail on the Summer Camp program.

Please note the following:

  1. Summer Camp July 20th through July 26th.
  2. The theme is “Galactic Adventure”
  3. Medical Forms – Page C must be filled out and signed by a physician prior to camp. Please click here to download the form.

Parents needed to help at Boards of Review

Important message from the Troop 8 Board of Review Chairperson.

To all Troop 8 Parents,

The Scouts of Troop 8 need parent volunteers to assist with the Board of Review process in order for them to advance.

Boards of Review will be held during the Troop meeting from 7:15 PM to 8:30 PM in the Ogden Church Library on the following dates:

  1. May 12
  2. June 9
  3. June 23
  4. July 14

Troop 8 at Philmont from June 26 to July 10, 2015

Scouts interested in going to Philmont in late June and early July 2015 should contact Mr. Verrill (emailajverrill@gmail.com).

Troop 8 will be sending a crew to Philmont Scout Ranch in the summer of 2015. Departure will be on June 26 and the crew will return onJuly 10. This is a fantastic 2 week adventure in the Rocky Mountains of New Mexico, near the town of Cimarron. See www.philmont.orgfor additional information.

Interested Scouts should contact Mr. Verrill (email ajverrill@gmail.com) as he will be the Lead Adult Advisor. To be eligible Scouts must be (by the time they arrive at Philmont):

  1. First Class in rank
  2. 14 years of age or have completed 8th grade.
  3. Completed a Northeast Backpacking trip with the Troop 8 Venture patrol.
  4. Approved by the ASM Venture and the Scoutmaster

Service Projects

Scouts looking for a Service Project should contact Mr. Weber at the next meeting.

Mr. Weber is unable to attend another Troop Meeting until June 9th. Until then, if you need to speak with him regarding a service project, you can email him at bobweber1@optonline.net, you can call him at home 973-635-7005 or on his cell (973-769-3035

 

Andrew Ziegler’s Eagle project

Andrew requests help from the troop for his Eagle Project

Hi Guys:

I will be working on my Eagle Project at Washington Avenue School on Saturday, May 10th (weather permitting) from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM.

We will be planting perennials and spreading mulch. Pleas email me at zman2298@gmail.com, speak to me at the Troop 8 Monday Meeting, or call me at 973-635-9667, if you are able to lend a hand.
