Webelos II scouts will visit Troop 8 on January 27 for a scoutmaster conference

Webelos II scouts will visit Troop 8 on January 27 to participate in a Scoutmaster conference with Mr. Mostert. This is one of the requirements to obtain the Arrow of Light award. All Webelos II scouts are welcome to the Scoutmaster conference, regardless if they plan to not continue with scouting, join another Troop or join Troop 8. For obvious reasons we think the latter option is the best choice. If you know of any Webelos II scouts that would like to attend a scoutmaster conference, please bring them to the Monday evening Troop meeting. Scouts from outside Chatham is also welcome.

Klondike Derby – Need Adults Volunteers

Hello fellow Troop 8 parents,

As in the past, Troop 8 will run a town (event station) at the Klondike Derby. Our town is Kodiak. Mr. Twentyman is the Mayor, with Mr. Britt as the Assistant Mayer and Mr. Weber is Special Counsel with the title of Official Town Greeter for the day

On February 1st, Troop 8 scouts are participating in the annual Fishawack District Klondike Derby. This is an outdoor event that pits scout troop against scout troop, testing the scouts’ abilities in a variety of scout skills from fire building, cooking, first aid through orienteering and many more hands on scout skills. It is an exciting fun filled day that has traditionally been enjoyed by all Troop 8 participants. Troop 8 has been allocated a town (called Kodiak) where we will test the scouts’ fire building skills. We are seeking interested Troop 8 parents who would like to assist us in running the activities at Kodiak. The tasks required are minimal and yet very enjoyable.

Also, you will receive a gourmet cooked meal that will ensure you have an enjoyable day. Please encourage your son to participate in this great Troop 8 tradition and we welcome your help.  Please contact Mr. Twentyman or Mr. Britt with any questions and make sure you signup now using the following link –

Yours in Scouting,

Tony Britt
