Troop 8 is part of the Patriot's Path Council of the Boy Scouts of America. We are located in eastern Morris county in New Jersey, about 30 miles west of New York City. Our troop is Boy-run and it currently consists of about 90 scouts organized into six patrols, plus the Leadership Corps for older scouts. We have a very active Venture Crew, a group of older scouts who undertake high adventure outings. The troop meets on Monday evenings at 7pm at Ogden Memorial Presbyterian Church in Chatham Borough.

At Troop 8 we have a lot of fun, but it is fun with a purpose & we are encouraged to prepare well..! We are motivated by our Scoutmaster's views on the purpose of scouting, and the leadership of our older scouts, provides us with many opportunities to choose our own path through the requirements for rank. With this encouragement, many of our members have gone on to Star & Life Rank and over 100 of Eight have attained Eagle Rank. What all of this means is, our program maintains an age appropriate level of interest by maturing as you do, it allows for a wide range of interests to be explored, it provides opportunities to take initiative, and it prepares you with life skills, values & friendships as you move on. You can find out more about us by reading our New Scout Family Handbook (Adobe document).
